Spanish nurses will apply drugs without prior green light from doctors

Good news at last. Spanish Nurses and Doctors associations have reached a deal, brokered by the Spanish Ministry of Public Health, to allow nurses using certain drugs without holding the prior formal approval from a doctor. This shall include some drugs subject to prescription. The deal was achieved by means of replacing the traditional Yes or No approach by a careful assessment of which drugs and in which scenarios could be included within the list for which nurses will be automatically authorised. The Health market has strongly endorsed this move that shall solve practical inconveniences arising from the pre-existing legal framework, that was less flexible, and also bring forward the need for additional efforts in terms of management and compliance. Positive news overall.
