Inspirational women in life sciences series – International Women’s Day

Beginning on International Women’s Day (IWD), DLA Piper’s Cortex blog is running a series with inspirational guest speakers to celebrate women working in diverse roles across the life sciences sector, from lab bench to legal team.  In this special series, we aim to highlight the outstanding contribution that women are making to the sector and to inspire a new generation.

In this first interview, we are delighted to be joined by Dr Ellen Border, Group Leader of the Receptor Protein Pipeline Group at Adaptimmune, a clinical-stage bio-pharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel cancer immunotherapies.  Ellen shares her perspectives on her journey to her current role, the motivation that comes from working to improve patient outcomes and the exciting scope for AI to support development of new immunotherapies in the coming years.  She also highlights the importance of outreach and science communication to the life sciences sector.

DISCLAIMER: All participants are speaking in their personal capacity and not as clients of DLA Piper or as representatives of their company or organisation.

"The idea that what we do on a day to day basis can help people who otherwise would not be able to be helped, can give people more time with the people that they love and can combat otherwise devastating illnesses is really inspiring and it motivates you to keep pushing" - Dr Ellen Border at Adaptimmune
